Sri Lanka Insurance Happiness Carnival concluded with immense success

Sri Lanka Insurance Happiness Carnival concluded with immense success with the participation of more than 35,000 people across the country.

The first Happiness Carnival was held at Viharamahadevi Park Colombo followed by series of carnivals held at Ampara, Mathara, Dambulla and Kurunegala . The carnivals were conducted in celebration of the declaration of the largest Life Bonus in the insurance history of Sri Lanka, Rs.6.8 billion.

There were numerous activities for kids to enjoy their time at carnival such as mini bowling, balloon darts, bumper balls, water slide, and merry-go-round, paddling boats, bungee runs and bouncers.

More than 1000 children participated for the art competitions during the com during the 5 carnivals who were awarded with certificates and gifts.  There were many other contests such as dancing contest where participants had the chance to win gifts.

Virtual reality game zone, magic shows, street dramas and motor bicycle stunts caught special attention of children’s as well as adults.  There were informative sessions on road safety and beauty culture session which very popular among parents.

The carnivals were not restricted to Sri Lanka Insurance policyholders and it was open to every kid to freely participate for all the games.

 


150th SLIC Branch Opens in Yakkala

Sri Lanka Insurance opened its newest branch office on the 17th of September at Yakkala ,
amidst a gathering of staff and customers. Chairman, Mr. Hemaka Amarasuriya, Chief
Officer Business Development, Mr. Rukman Weeraratne and members from the corporate
management graced the occasion. With the opening of the Yakkala branch, SLIC now
serves customers through an extensive network of 150 branches.

Sri Lanka Inter School Sports Festival protected by Sri Lanka Insurance

Sri Lanka Insurance, the insurance giant in Sri Lanka announced as the official insurance partner for the 34th Inter School Sports Festival.

The event took place at Sugathadasa Stadium from 01st to 05thof October 2018 with the participation of over 8000 school students.

Sri Lanka Insurance use this opportunity to create awareness about the Suraksha free health insurance policy launched together with Ministry of Education to ensure that the physical and mental well-being of all Sri Lankan children is maintained at an optimum. SLIC successfully educated thousands of students and parents about the benefits they can obtain from Suraksha free health insurance cover and the procedure to obtain their claims.

The Suraksha health insurance policy will ease the financial burden when students are faced with illnesses, accidents and disabilities in and out of the school. It will help students to continue with their education, overcoming any health-related obstacles they may encounter, irrespective of financial status.

Sri Lanka Insurance announced its latest digital feature, the B Connect App that connects all advisers of SLIC, enabling them to be informed of all updates real time.

In identifying the need of having a tech savvy sales force who can steer forward in a technology driven business environment SLIC advisers can now communicate across cross-function of channels and departments to service the consumers with speed and efficiency.

Sri Lanka Insurance launched an island-wide campaign on 1st of October in commemorating World Children’s Day 2018. Children’s day main program was launched at Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children followed by series of programs conducted at the Pediatric Wards of the 20 main hospitals island wide.

SLIC Chairman Mr. Hemaka Amarasuriya, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Chandana L. Aluthgama, Chief Officer Business Development Mr.Rukman Weerarathna, DGM Marketing/Head of Marketing Mrs. Namalee Silva and the members from corporate management participated for the awareness campaign.

Sri Lanka Insurance opens its 152nd Branch at Ruwanwella.

Sri Lanka Insurance unveiled its latest branch in Ruwanwella on 15th October 2018, bringing its expertise to the residents as a part of its expansion to widen its geographical footprint across the island. The newly opened branch is located at No 197, Awissawella Road, Ruwanwella. With this new opening, Sri Lanka Insurance extends their outreach to 152 branches island-wide.

 

The ceremonial inauguration was graced by SLIC Chairman Mr. Hemaka Amarasuriya, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Chandana L. Offers 1Million Personal Accident Cover for Selected entrepreneurs

Sri Lanka Insurance has partnered with Ath Pavura, Sri Lanka’s first television show to promote social entrepreneurship and impact investment with the aim of encouraging and strengthening the local SME sector. This program unfolds as a TV show experience on ITN television network.

This initiative has been taken in order to find and support the entrepreneurs scattered around the country who are engaged with social and environmental projects that creates value to the entire society through business development activities. This program facilitates a common forum where the entrepreneurs meet with potential investors.

Applicants who successfully secure an investment from the program are entitled for a free Personal Accident Insurance cover from Sri Lanka Insurance worth Rs. 1,000,000. As at now Sri Lanka insurance has awarded Personal Accident Insurance Covers each worth 1Million to Mr. Lakmal Lasantha Kulasekara from Thangalla  for his project on developing a baby toy with local lullaby, Mr. Anura Perera from Padukka for his project on developing a brick from waste construction material, Dr. Norosha Jayasinghe from Hambarakada for her project on Chemical free makeup and Ms. Dilini Vidanagamarachchi from Makola for her project on Handicrafts made from organic material.

‘Call to Donate’ is back again – a CSR initiative taken by Sri Lanka Insurance

For every missed call given to 1357 Sri Lanka Insurance donate Rs.10/- to the Pediatric ward of Apeksha Cancer Hospital

Committed towards the protection and well being of the society, the nation’s insurance provider Sri Lanka Insurance launched the 3rd phase of “Call to Donate” a CSR initiative in aid of raising awareness about the cancer and donating funds to the Pediatric ward of Apeksha Cancer Hospital Maharagama.

The campaign was launched on 1st of November 2018 and continues with enormous success urging Sri Lankans to join hands with SLIC by simply giving a missed call for this praise worthy cause.

For every missed call the caller makes SLIC will donate Rs.10/- to the Pediatric ward of Apeksha Cancer Hospital Maharagama.

Initiated on 2015 ‘Call to Donate’ is an annual initiative driven with the aspiration to create awareness of the increasing threat of cancer among people of Sri Lanka to give greater attention to this rising problem and to compassionate about those who are affected by this terminal illness.

Through the previous call to donate projects, SLIC was able to purchase a much needed C Pap Machine, Essential Medicines & Prosthesis Limbs for cancer survivors in 2015 and 2016.

Continuing the great cause, this year campaign intended to to build an isolation room for the Pediatric ward at Maharagama Apeksha

Hospital. With all facilities required.

Sri Lanka Insurance opened 2 new branches during last 2 weeks at Kotikawaththa and Yakkala.

The insurance giant, Sri Lanka Insurance opened their newest branch in Kotikawatta on 25th September 2018 followed by the branch opening at Yakkala on 17th September. The newly opened Kotikawatta branch is situated at No 257/7/5, IDH Road, Kotikawatta.

SLIC Kotikawatta was opened in the presence of SLIC Chairman –  Mr.Hemaka Amarasuriya, CEO- Mr. Chandana L Aluthgama,  Chief Officer Business Development – Mr. Rukman Weerarathna, members of corporate management, customers and well wishers.

With this new opening, Sri Lanka Insurance extends their outreach to 151 branches island-wide.

SLIC Suba Pathum Scholarship 2018 awards 300 Scholarships for school children island wide

Sri Lanka Insurance, contributing towards the future generation of Sri Lanka launched ‘Suba Pathum – National Scholarship Scheme’ which rewards 300 achievers who excel in Grade 5 Scholarship, G.C.E. Ordinary Level and G.C.E. Advanced Level examinations annually.

The first phase of the 2018 Suba Pathum awarding ceremony was successfully held at Pinnawala Central College Kegalle on 3rd of November 2018 which will be followed by 17 regional awarding ceremonies island wide.

Under this scheme 300 scholarships in total (per annum) will be awarded for students who achieve the top rankings at District level (for Grade 5 Scholarship & O/L examination), National level (for A/L examination in Bio/Mathematics/Commerce & Arts streams).

This scheme is open for all the children of Sri Lanka irrespective of whether or not he/she is a child of a SLIC Life policyholder. However there will be extended benefits if the scholarship recipient’s parents/guardian holds a SLIC Life policy.

The SLIC Life Congress 2018 was held at the Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa from 08th to 09th November 2018 amidst of much splendor to honour  the top performers in the Life Insurance category.

Sri Lanka Insurance Life Congress is organized annually by SLIC to award and recognise the outstanding performances of SLIC Sales Force. In 2018 over 275 achievers were awarded with certificates and foreign tours for European and Asian countries for their achievements under the respective business categories

The sales achievers who achieved the highest levels at a competition held from January to June were qualified to attend this prestigious two-day residential congress. The event comprised of sessions carried out by Bhathiya Arthanayake, a well known motivator and personal skill developer and Kelum Weligama, a popular life coach and a lecturer of personal development. Members from Top management of SLIC were presented at the Life Congress 2018.

Dr K.A.S. Keeragala appointed as the Chairman, Heads the Newly Appointed Board of Sri Lanka Insurance

Dr.K.A.S.Keeragala has been appointed as the Executive Chairman of Sri Lanka Insurance   with effect from 29th November 2018.

Dr.K.A.S. Keeragala is a leading person in the Public Services and is a Special Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service with over 33 years of experience in the government service and Sri Lanka administrative Service.

Prior to being appointed to the rank, he was the Secretary to the state Ministry of Finance. Dr.K.A.S. Keeragala has also held the distinguished positions of Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Project Management and Southern Development, Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, State Ministry of Youth Affairs, and the Ministry of Health.

He also possesses excellent academic credentials with Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Colombo and has a Doctorate in Management from Global University of California, USA and is currently following thesis work on Ph.D. in Economics in the University of Colombo.

Mr. P. Algama , Mr. Saadi.A. Wadood, Mr.P.M. K. Hettiarachchi , Mr.K.K.S.A. Perera  and Mr.J.M.U.P.Jayamaha are also appointed as Directors to the Sri Lanka Insurance Board.

SLIC Suba Pathum 2018 – Second Awarding Ceremony held in Matara

The second event of the 2018 Suba Pathum awarding ceremony was successfully held at Baudhdha Vidyalaya –Matara on 14th of November 2018 which will be followed by another 16 regional awarding ceremonies island wide.

SLIC Suba Pathum Scholarship Scheme, initiated with the aim to inspire and appreciate the future generation of Sri Lanka has been launched its 2018 chapter earlier this November for the 4th consecutive time.

The scholarship scheme presents cash rewards to the students for their academic excellence and over the past years it has proven to be a strength for the scholarship holders to achieve more.

Rs.5,000,000/- will be donated to the Pediatric ward of Maharagama Apeksha Hospital

Call to Donate’ a CSR initiative by Sri Lanka Insurance concluded with immense success getting more than 480,000 missed calls from generous Sri Lankans.

Sri Lanka Insurance, a name resonate in the hearts of Sri Lankan people as the  nation’s insurance provider launched the ‘Call to Donate’ campaign on 1st of November 2018 as the 3rd phase of this annual initiative. The campaign was launched in aid of raising awareness about the cancer and donating funds to the Pediatric ward of Apeksha Cancer Hospital Maharagama.

Sri Lanka Insurance launched this campaign with a promise to donate Rs.10/- for each missed call given to 1375, and serving the purpose SLIC is donating Rs.5,000,000/- to build an isolation room for the Pediatric ward at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital  with all facilities required.

Since 2015 ‘Call to Donate’inspire people to be compassionate about those who are affected by this terminal illness and to create awareness about the increasing threat of cancer  by becoming a part of this tremendous cause.

Sri Lanka Insurance inaugurates business operations for 2019

The inauguration of Sri Lanka Insurance business operations for year 2019 took place on 1st of January 2019 at Sri Lanka Insurance head office with the participation of the corporate management and the staff of SLIC.

The event comprised of religious observations performed by religious leaders of all four religions.

Speaking at the gathering the Chairman Dr.K.A.S. Keeragala noted ‘As the pioneering insurance company in Sri Lanka SLIC is armed with knowledge, skills, human recourses and new technology and we strive to continue providing the best protection for Sri Lankans.’

In his speech Chief Executive Officer noted that ‘2018 witnessed a challenging year and SLIC has been able to conqure challenges through modernization and team work. As SLIC is heading to the year 2019, SLIC should further strengthen internal capabilities and grow as a powerful force united by the goal to provide exceptional service level to our valuable customers’ he further noted.

Established in 1962 as a state owned corporation, Sri Lanka’s insurance giant Sri Lanka Insurance also commemorated its 57th anniversary on the same day.

 


Sri Lanka Insurance inaugurates business activities for 2017

The inauguration of business activities at Sri Lanka Insurance took place on January 2 amidst a distinguished gathering comprising Minister of Public Enterprise Development Hon. Kabir Hashim, Deputy Minister of Public Enterprise Development Hon. Eran Wickremaratne and the Joint Managing Directors Mr. T.M.R. Bangsa Jayah and Mr. Aruna Siriwardena.

After the religious observances performed by leaders of all four religions, the audience was addressed by the Joint Managing Directors who appreciated the efforts put in by the SLI staff during the previous years and called on them to perform even better during 2017.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Hashim described the contribution made by Sri Lanka Insurance to the development of the country during the year as one of the biggest among state institutions. “The Government lays emphasis, not only on investing in physical infrastructure, but also on investing in the social infrastructure by improving the human capital. The budget proposals were also designed with these goals in mind. Everyone at SLI should be justifiably proud of this contribution,” he said.

The event also coincided with the 55th anniversary of Sri Lanka Insurance, which had been established in 1962, and a cake was cut on the occasion to commemorate this landmark event.

Pirith for Sri Lanka Insurance 55th anniversary

An all night Pirith chanting ceremony was organised at Sri Lanka Insurance recently as part of the religious observances to commemorate the organisation’s 55th anniversary and to invoke blessings on the SLI, its staff and customers and all Sri Lankans. Minister of Public Enterprise Development Hon. Kabir Hashim, Deputy Minister Hon. Eran Wickremaratne, Chairman Hemaka Amarasuriya and Managing Directors T.M.R. Bangsa Jayah and Aruna Siriwardhana were among those present. The Pirith chanting was followed the next morning by an alms giving for 55 Bhikkhus.

It was three days of fun, excitement and a chance like never before to see the leading automotive brands from across the world, all housed under one roof. The premier motoring event of the year presented by Sri Lanka Insurance Motor Plus and organised by the Ceylon Motor Traders Association (CMTA) and the Classic Car Club of Ceylon (CCCC), was held at the BMICH from January 27 – 29. Among the special invitees to the event was Minister of Public Enterprise Development Hon. Kabir Hashim.

Ceylon Motor Show 2017 attracted record crowds over the three days with over 23,000 visiting the show from morning to night, according to CCCC sources.

Cars, jeeps, and Sports Utility Vehicles took pride of place at the event while motor-cycles, vans and other commercial vehicles too received much prominence and visibility. Over 25 leading franchise holders representing some of the top global brands (numbering over 60), exhibited their latest vehicle models at the show. Some of these franchise holders used the opportunity to launch their latest models to the Sri Lankan market, which were received with much enthusiasm by the visitors to the event.

The vintage collection was a crowd favourite and the mostly American and European brands attracted large numbers to the stalls where these cars were on display. Overall, the Sri Lanka Insurance Motor Plus – Ceylon Motor Show 2017 is believed to have attracted almost double the number of visitors from the previous show.

This is the fourth year that Sri Lanka Insurance had tied up with this prestigious event which is considered as a ‘must visit’ in the calendar of every motor enthusiast. Among the special activities organised by SLI at this year’s event were competitions conducted over its Facebook page with valuable gifts being presented to the winners, raffle draws, unique promotions and many entertainment activities.

The events were organised for the sixth consecutive year and comprised a Kapruka Pooja and Pahan Pooja. Many SLI employees took part in these events conducted to invoke blessings on the organisation in its 55th year.
